Jonah 4
INTRODUCTION:
(To the tune of ''If I Only Had a Heart'' from The Wizard of Oz):
I could think of last week's sermon
My preacher worked so hard on
It was a work of art
I'd remember Jonah's preaching
All the people he was reaching
If I only had a heart
I'd forget about elections
cabinet selections
And when the recounts start
I could still count my blessings
Just by listening to Steve's lesson
If I only had a heart
What Jonah has to teach us
Is God can only reach us
If we all do our part
I could tell the old, old story
Then go home to him in glory
If I only had a heart

Each message highlights the importance of missions - sharing the good news. In chapter one we saw the call to missions. In chapter 2 we saw the preparation for missions. In chapter 3 we saw the results of missions. Today, in chapter four, we're going to learn about the heart of missions. And the heart of missions is the love of God.

Just kill me now, Lord! I'd rather be dead than alive if what I predicted will not happen.'''
You see the love of God here in Jonah's whiney description: ''You are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You are eager to turn back from destroying people.''
The love of God stands out all the more because it is presented in stark contrast to Jonah's lack of love. Th ...
