Series: 1 Corinthians - And You Think You've Got Problems

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
If you have your Bible, please turn to 1st Corinthians chapter 1. We're in a series on 1st Corinthians. And tonight we'll be looking at chapter 1, verses 27 through 31.
Paul says this: ''For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, that, just as it is written, 'Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.'''
I don't know if you have caught any of the sports clips, but right now the NFL teams are doing a big, massive search on college talent because the draft is coming at the end of April. And they take these guys, and they put them into these things called NFL Combines, and they're checking to see how fast they are, how strong they are, how agile they are, how smart they are. You know, can they learn the plays and things like that? Especially for the quarterback position, it's really important for these teams, before they roll the dice and give a guy 30, 40, 50 million dollars, they want to make sure, hey, you've got the smarts to do this? You have the health to do this and the body to do this and the speed and all those different things? And there are lots of parameters and lots of things that go into a general manager and an owner choosing the players to build their team, because they do want the best and the strongest and the fastest and the smartest and all those things that are mixed together.
