1 Corinthians 9:24-27
If you have your Bible, please turn to 1st Corinthians chapter 9. We've been going through 1st Corinthians on Wednesday nights. We're finishing up chapter 9 tonight. I've entitled this message, ''Move Over, Charlie Sheen.''
Now, if you know anything about popular culture, you know that Charlie Sheen was in the news a lot in the early part of the year. He was the star, of the television show called Two and a Half Men. And he was the main character and everybody thought he was so funny. But that guy has a lot of problems. And that came to light with his rants and his drug binges and his erratic behavior. And she said, ''Well, it means you're on this extreme and on that extreme.'' And he said, ''I'm not bi- polar. I'm bi-winning.'' Now, I really liked that. I thought it was kind of cool, bi-winning. He said, ''I'm winning over here, and I'm winning over there.'' You know, he really captivated that word and captured that word winning, and that became his word. Every time somebody asked him something, he'd say, ''I'm winning.'' Well, he was really losing. But he thought he was winning.
Did you know the Christian life is designed to be a life of winning? And it's designed to be a life of bi-winning. There's a great verse. You want to think of bi- winning - winning over here, winning over here. Paul was the first one to come up with bi-winning in Philippians chapter 1, verse 21. He said, ''For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.'' He was in prison and he was waiti ...
