1 Corinthians 15:12-20
If you have your Bible, please turn to 1st Corinthians chapter 15, the great chapter, the longest chapter in the Book of 1st Corinthians. Paul has much to say about the resurrection.
Now most of you are familiar with the Apollo 13 mission to the moon. I was just a little kid when they had that Apollo 13 mission to the moon. It was all but forgotten until Hollywood made a movie about it called Apollo 13. And if you remember some of that story, you know that the astronauts went up, and everything was going fine until they were told to perform a routine procedure. They were to turn on the stirring fans in the hydrogen and oxygen tanks. And they were 200,000 miles from the earth when they were told to do this. ''No big deal. It's just a routine thing. Let's do this!'' And when they did it, less than a minute later there was an explosion. And after the explosion, they were trying to figure out what had happened. Do we have the clip? All right. Then we heard these famous words:
''Hey, we've got a problem here! ''What did you do?''
''Nothing, I stirred the tanks. ''Hey, this Houston, Say again, please.'' ''Houston, we have a problem!''
''Houston, we have a problem!'' That became a famous, famous phrase. Sports teams use it when things are going south. You assume we have a problem, but I want to talk to you tonight about a problem and the problem is, a big problem, just like Apollo 13 had a big problem, there's a big problem today in Christianity. It's been a problem since Christianity was founded. And that is the problem of liberal theology. It's the problem of the devil working his way in and causing people to take the Word of God and twist it and turn it and add question marks to it, and saying, ''Well, this isn't true, and that's not true, and this other's not true, and you can't take this at face value, and ...
