Getting married, while it was a day I thought would never come, for most people is not difficult. Getting to and through a wedding is not the great challenge, some have managed that part of it 3 or 4 times. The challenge is not getting married but staying married and making the marriage work is.
For marriage to work it has to operate according to God's design.
1. He not only created and designed the overall concept of marriage but tells us how our marriages are supposed to run and operate.
2. In our marriage there are basically three primary parts that have to relate to one another.
3. One part is constant, steady, never moving, never changing and is never in need of repair while the others have a strong tendency to move, shift, get offline, out of line, malfunction or grind to a halt or just break down.
Our marriage consists of three primary persons and their respective relationships.
1. You have God who ordained marriage and sanctions marriage and performs the miraculous by making two distinct people into one flesh.
2. He is the one part that is constant, steady, never moving, never changing and never malfunctions.
3. He is the one to whom all other parts must align themselves.
4. You also have the husband and the wife.
There are three very basic relationships within that marriage that have to operate properly for the marriage to function as God intended and designed.
1. You have the husband's relationship to God.
2. You have the wife's relationship to God.
3. You have the husband's relationship with the wife.
4. All of them interconnected with each relationship affecting the other.
