In life there will always be things we do not completely understand.  There will be struggles and tragedies we cannot explain.  In times like that a question we find bouncing around our minds and rolling off our lips is “why?”  Why this and not that?  Why that and not this?
 
In thinking about some of life’s minor mysteries a comedian once asked, “Did you ever wonder why...?”


  • You can tell a man there are 400 billion stars and he will believe you but tell him a park-bench has wet paint and he has to touch it to find out?

  • It is called a hamburger when it is made out of beef?

  • Glue doesn’t stick to the inside of the bottle?

  • If man evolved from monkeys and apes then why do we still have monkeys and apes?

  • Why do banks charge you an insufficient funds fee on money they know you do not have?


 
There will always be mysteries in life we do not understand.  That is true of the trivial and the important areas of life.  There will always be things in life that leave us scratching our heads asking why and some of the answers we are given will never satisfy us.
 
Disappointments in life are inevitable and unavoidable. 


  • One of the hard lessons we learn as Christians is that our disappointments are often times God’s appointments. 

  • It is in life’s disappointments that we are challenged to trust God and walk by faith – especially when we find ourselves asking the question “Why?”
