STICKING THROUGH TOUGH TIMES (22 OF 34)
Sticking through Tough Times (22 of 34)
Series: Acts
Robert Dawson
Acts 14The meeting room was packed. The church was excited and anxious as they waited to hear what Paul and Barnabus had to say. After 2 years of travel the missionaries had finally come back to the place it all started, Antioch. God had called them out of this wonderful church for a very special mission, to take the Gospel beyond their cultural context and comfort zones to the ends of the earth.
At the end of chapter 14 we find the two missionaries giving an account of all they had seen and experienced on the journey.
Acts 14.26-28 - They sailed to Antioch, from which they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had accomplished. 27 When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. 28 And they spent a long time with the disciples.
I know the times I have been off on a mission trip people always want to know how the trip went. They want to know what I saw. They want to hear about the people I met, how we traveled, what the culture was like and what we ate.
I am sure those were all things Paul and Barnabus shared but they had something much more interesting and exciting to talk about than a topography, cultural distinctives and local cuisine.
