Right Side up in an Upside down World (26 of 34)
Series: Acts

Acts 17:1-16
A preacher introduced his sermon by saying, “First, the world is wrong side up. Second, the world must be turned upside down. Third, we are the people to set it right.”
As we look at the first part of Acts 17I want us to consider what it takes to turn an upside down world right side up.
ACTS 17.1-16
Paul and his mission team had been beaten, imprisoned and ridiculed in Philippi (The place God had called them. He does not always call us to comfort or an easy ministry). Despite these very minor setbacks and inconveniences they continued their journey.
They traveled to Thessalonica which was the capital of Macedonia.
o It was a strategic place for the Gospel.
o God is very deliberate and intentional in what He does.
o He positions His resources, which are His people, where He wants them so that they can fulfill His purposes.
When Paul entered a city there was a basic ministry plan he would follow.
That is not the only pattern we find in Paul’s ministry. This pattern is not one that Paul followed but one that followed him. After he would preach the Gospel some people accepted the message and were converted and then trouble would ensue. It followed him wherever he went.

When Paul entered a city there was a basic ministry plan he would follow.
- He would begin by going to the synagogues to the Jews and reason with them (discuss and debate them from Scripture). He did that in Thessalonica for 1- 3 weeks.
- He would move from a ministry to the Jews to reaching everyone else by telling the story of Jesus Christ. Paul followed that same pattern in Thessalonica.
That is not the only pattern we find in Paul’s ministry. This pattern is not one that Paul followed but one that followed him. After he would preach the Gospel some people accepted the message and were converted and then trouble would ensue. It followed him wherever he went.
