THE CURE FOR PREACHER RELIGION
I Corinthians 3:18-4:5

This is going to be more and more helpful and interesting as we go along. We will take up the
subject of spiritual gifts at a later time. We will talk about the matter of tongues and healing and these
kinds of things that are specifically dealt with by Paul in his letter to the Corinthian church. Tonight,
however, my subject is the Cure For Preacher Religion.
We do have some preachers here tonight on the way to Cape Canaveral to catch the cruise.
They will be interested in hearing how to get a cure for preacher religion. Not everybody is afflicted
with preacher religion. I heard about the preacher who was in the hospital and after the deacons'
meeting on a Monday night the chairman of the deacons came by to see the pastor and said, "Pastor, I
just wanted to come by and let you know that the deacons voted tonight, 18-17, to pray for your
recovery." So, not everybody is afflicted with preacher religion.
Did you hear about the lady whose pastor had just resigned and she came to the door and said,
"Preacher, you just can't leave us. You just can't leave us." He said, "Now, sister, don't you worry, the
Lord will send you a better preacher after me. The next preacher will be better than I am." She said,
"Preacher, that's what I'm afraid of. That's what the last pastor said." Not everybody is afflicted with
preacher religion.
I'll get on that boat tomorrow. We called Dr. Reeder and got some of those patches you put
behind your ears so you don't get sea sick. I get sea sick. That's why I shower instead of bathe in a
tub, I can't take that motion in the tub. I'll put a patch under each ear. One on my tongue and then
commit myself to the Lord to take care of me.
