- This morning, we begin a brand new series on Heaven. There are so many thoughts, assumptions, questions, and opinions about Heaven. With all the information and misinformation out there, it’s easy to become overwhelmed.
- Today, I want to cut through the fog and deal with some of the most important issues about Heaven. I thought a great place to begin was with a basic question, What’s So Great About Heaven?
- *Where would you consider to be the ultimate place to visit or even live? Did you know a little over 100 miles from this very building is the gateway to go about anywhere in the world? Over 260 thousand passengers go through the Atlanta Airport every day. Some people think they are going to the ultimate location. Some people are longing for sand between their toes and the sounds of waves crashing against the shore. Others may want a quiet mountain cabin overlooking a beautiful lake. Others may want freshly powdered snow where you can ski downhill all day long. But the reality is, there is no place on earth that will ever deliver the perfect experience; earth can’t deliver the ultimate place. Wherever you go…every rose will have a thorn. Every city will have a criminal. Every home will have a hurt. A hospital for the sick, a cemetery for the dead, a generator for a storm, a homeless person with a sign, “Need food.” You will find all this and even more painful realities of the curse of sin that blankets the world. If you are searching for the ultimate, you will have to go further than our world.*
- But I want you to know, there is a place that is greater than you have ever imagined. It’s beyond your wildest dreams. You can’t even begin to picture how amazing, wonderful, and perfect this place is. Heaven is the ultimate! Listen to what Paul says in this short verse about the wonders of Heaven ...
