Revelation 22:1-5
- *I remember several years ago when God moved our family from Georgia to Tennessee. I had never even been to Memphis and really hadn’t planned on leaving the state of my birth. The first time I set foot in Memphis, TN was in the airport in the Spring of 2007. And it became very clear that I hadn’t really done my homework. One of the first things they showed me was the famous Beal Street. The only problem was, I had no idea what it was. I had never heard of it in my life. I learned later that Memphis is known for Beal, Blues, and Barbecue. But I also learned how to adjust to a new place. Yes, Memphis is still the south, but there are some things that are very different. Just because I’m still in the south doesn’t mean everything is the same. There are lots of differences between GA and TN:
o Income tax with a small sales tax, no income tax with a large sales tax (you pay almost 10 cents on every dollar here)
o Cul-de-sac to cove
o Drought to monsoon
o No snow, to snow
o Red clay to real dirt
o Pine straw to mulch
o Sadly, no UGA stuff at Wal-Mart, everywhere in GA. Unfortunately, everyone wore orange!*
- The Bible tells us that one day those of us who know Christ will be in a place where everything is different, everything is new and everything is changed. In John 14, Jesus said, “I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
- READ TEXT In this passage of Scripture, there are six differences described—differences between the place we now call home and the place we will one day call home.
