Do you have bad habits that you just seem that you cannot have victory…
You are a guy and you struggle with lust…can you ever be free.
You are a woman and you gossip
You drink to excess
You are self medicating
You have uncontrollable anger
None of these bring you life…they don't make your life better…only worse…so how do I overcome them.


In Romans 5 Paul tells us that we have been introduced to Grace by faith.
I do not have a license to sin or to continue in the bad habits?
How can I overcome my bad habits.

1. Get Baptized
This is the first step Paul calls us to.
Notice what Baptism is.
Romans 6:1-23 (NASB)
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?
2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

Baptism is the picture and the power that helps us in this…

3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?

Baptized: baptizo-dip, immerse, submerge or plunge.
That is why Paul will say we are buried with Christ.

4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Baptism is done to disciples who know what they are doing.
It is the a calling found in the Great Commission.
Note that we baptize Disciples.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NASB)
19 ''Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.''
Baptism is an appeal to God for a clear conscience.
1 Peter 3:21 (NASB)
21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you-not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience-through the resurre ...
