Think about the different people who are with us today
Some of you are checking out Church for the first time and think if I get serious about Christianity thing … there are things I will have to give up.
Some of you are brand new Christians…just got baptized and are wondering if there is a list of rules I need to follow
I want to be holy so is there a list of do's and don'ts I have to follow?
Some of you have a Church background but you dropped out because it was just too hard or not worth following all the rules
Guy given a list of rules that he would have to obey if he wanted to be a member of that Church.
Some of you have been Christians a long time and you have unspoken rules that are locked in your mind.
Don't smoke, don't drink and don't chew; and don't go with girls who do.
So are there rules that we have to obey?
Let's Look at what Jesus has to say about this..
Luke 13:10-17 (NASB) (No slide for these verses…I will tell this story)
10 And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
11 And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all.
12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, ''Woman, you are freed from your sickness.''
13 And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God.
14 But the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, ''There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.''
15 But the Lord answered him and said, ''You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him?
