Numbers 11:1-6
Back in the 60's and 70's there was a great revival that took place and it was called the JESUS MOVEMENT. Scores of drug and alcohol-addicted hippies were converted to Christ and their hearts were set on fire with the love of God. They were delivered from their addictions and promiscuous sexual encounters, and converted to Christ. For me personally, I was saved in the early 80's in the Charismatic Renewal when the Holy Spirit hit the Catholic Church and other denominational assemblies and people were baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire. For me, going back to the world was never an option. And it wasn't because my religion forbade me to do so. It was because I had truly been converted and changed by the power of God. I didn't WANT to go back to the world. I didn't want to go back to my addictions. I wasn't perfect, but my PURSUIT was Jesus and the closer I got to Him, the less I needed or wanted ANYTHING the world had to offer me. I realized the small price of denying my flesh and giving myself to Christ was nothing compared to what Jesus did for me. I wanted to know Him more. Everyday a little more. As I turned my eyes upon Jesus, the things of the world grew strangely dim. I was filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and other manifestations of the Spirit soon after salvation and I have never gone back. Like the old song went:
I have decided to follow Jesus
(Repeat)
No turning back, no turning back
The cross before me, the world behind me
(Repeat)
No turning back, no turning back
