A young girl was working diligently on a school project when her father walked into the room and asked what she was doing (Parents always want to know what is going on and what we are doing - it is part of the job. She told him that she was working on a plan for world peace. The Father grinned a sly little smile and asked how it was coming and if she didn't think it was too large a task for one small girl. She looked up at her dad and said, ''Dad, don't worry. I have two other girls in my class helping me on the project.
Don't we wish it were that simple?!
We are a world without peace. The images I see on TV and the internet, I am not talking about the fictional and choreographed ones out of Hollywood, but the ones that are taken from real life. Watching some of the real life footage and looking at photos of real life is enough to bring fear, unrest, uncertainty and anger to even the most stalwart hearts.
- Images of gunmen murdering an injured police officer lying on the sidewalk in plain sight are disturbing.
- Images and video of a young boy, no more than 10 or 11, executing men with a gun all in the name of Islam is beyond disturbing.
- Thinking back a few weeks to the horrific display of violence and hatred in our own country in Missouri and NY.
Read the papers, blogs and live comments under the latest stories on the internet and you discover a people so divided by differing beliefs, ideas, economics and race then you begin to see that any thoughts of peace are nothing more than an empty and fruitless dream
The history of our world is not a history filled with peace but strife.
