If you have your Bible, please turn to Revelation chapter 19. I want to look at one of the most awesome passages in all the Bible today as we finish up the series, Encountering the Real Jesus, with a message I've entitled From the Lamb to the Lion.
Now it was in 1934 that a new Christmas song was written. It quickly became very popular. It was an old song, what they used to call, the Negro spiritual. And this song has been performed over the years by many, many famous singers. And the theme of this song, such great lyrics, is it speaks of man's ignorance when it comes to the Lord Jesus Christ, and it also speaks of man's insolence and arrogance and pride as it relates to the Lord Jesus Christ. The song is titled Sweet Little Jesus Boy. The opening of the song says this:
Sweet little Jesus Boy,?They made You be born in a manger; Sweet little Holy Child,?We didn't know who You was.
In our series, Encountering the Real Jesus, we've tried to focus in on who does the Bible say Jesus really is. What are the intricacies of His personhood? You know, because we have thoughts today of what Jesus, what we want Him to be. And what you want Jesus to be, and what Jesus is, He's not who you want Him to be, per se; He is who He is. And the Jesus of the liberal is not the Jesus of the Bible. And the Jesus of the cultist is not the Jesus of the Bible. The Jesus of the apostate, those who have fallen away from the faith, is not the Jesus of the Bible. The Jesus of grace only is not the Jesus of the Bible, because the Jesus of the Bible is full of grace and truth. And there is much, much confusion in our world about who Jesus really is. And there are lots of folks that have a one-sided Jesus. Jesus is all love, but Jesus is not much of anything else. It's kind of like Jesus Lite - Jesus, who is Lite on judgment; Jesus, who is Lite on truth; Jesus, who winks at s ...
