I want you to think with me for a little while
tonight about how the Holy Spirit brings a lost person
to salvation. I want you to see from the Scriptures
how it is that the Holy Spirit can move out into a
world that is godless and can reach a lost soul and
bring that soul to salvation and bring that soul all
the way into God's heaven.

We must never get the idea that the Holy Spirit
of God is present in the world only in the lives of
believers. The Holy Spirit is present in the world.
When you go out into the world, when you go out to
speak the name of Jesus and tell a lost person about
the Lord Jesus Christ, don't ever get the idea that
you are going out there by yourself. The Holy Spirit
is IN you, but the Holy Spirit will be wherever you
go. The Spirit of God is active and is working in
this world.

There are several things the Holy Spirit does.
One thing the Holy Spirit is doing in our world is
restraining evil. In Isa. 59:19 the Bible says, "When
the enemy shall come in like a flood the spirit of the
Lord shall lift up a standard against him." This
means that the Holy Spirit has a role in the world in
general of restraining evil. Having said that I'm
aware of the fact that many of you right now are
beginning to think: "If that is true, what in the
world is the Holy Spirit doing because there is a
whole lot of evil going on in the world?" The Bible
predicts there is going to be a time when the
restraining work of the Holy Spirit is going to be
withdrawn from the world. In II Thes. 2:6-8 the
Apostle Paul is talking about this restraining work of
the Holy Spirit. He says in verse 7 - "For the
mystery of iniquity doth already work. Only he who
now restrains will restrain until he be taken out of
the way." The Bible predicts that just as the Holy
