So our scripture reading for today comes from the very first chapter of the very first book of the Bible so if you are new to church or if you have been at church a long time I invite you to turn with me to Genesis 1 and if you need a Bible you can either grab the Bible in the pew rack or if you are in the activity center we will have some guys coming around that would love to give you a bible and if you don't have a Bible feel free to take this home with you.

So Genesis 1:24-31 Very first book very first chapter… Now the way we understand the Bible is that when the Biblical authors were writing these ancient books, so in the case of Genesis it was the prophet Moses, but when the Biblical authors were writing these books they were doing so under the inspiration of the very Holy Spirit of God. Jesus actually talks about this in John 16 and he says that part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to take the truth of Jesus and declare it to all people through these inspired books through the Bible. So that means that when I read these words they actually come to us with the same kind of authority as if Jesus himself were speaking them to us. So with that in mind lets hear the word of Christ. Genesis 1:24-31
24 And God said, ''Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds-livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.'' And it was so. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, ''Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heave ...
