Revelation 14:13 ''And I heard a voice from heaven saying, 'Write this down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!'''

I. IN THE LORD

To say that those who die are in any way blessed is contrary to all of our experiences with death. Death is not natural it is totally unnatural. This is especially evident in the circumstances of Dawn's death, which came so prematurely and unexpectedly. When someone dies of natural causes in their 90's after a having a lived a long and fulfilling life, we may not like it but we are a little more accepting of it because that's what happens to older folks. But Dawn was only 52 years old with so much life and fruitfulness still ahead of her.

And so I want us to remember today that death was never in God's original plan for any of us. God's plan was that we would live in perfect fellowship with him on this jewel of a planet called earth in it's glorious Edenic state. We were to live forever, not die. Death came about as a curse, the consequences of sin and rebellion against God. Therefore, the Bible clearly portrays death as our ultimate enemy. In I Cor. 15:26 Paul calls death the enemy. It is the enemy of God, the enemy of Christ and the enemy of mankind.
