Relying on Divine Intervention (8 of 10)
Series: Hebrews 11
Stephen Whitney
Hebrews 11:29-31

The Bible is filled with stories of God's divine intervention in the lives of people who were not able to help themselves out of some impossible situation such as: Daniel in the lions den, his three friends put into the fiery furnace, Elijah who was fed by ravens, Peter who walked on the water and was released from prison.

Why do we need God's divine intervention in our lives?

1. Our ability to help ourselves is limited. - We cannot stop diseases from overcoming us. - We cannot heal our illness or sickness. - We do not control how long we will live.

2. We are not able to control the circumstances around us. - We do not control the heat or cold or rain or sun. - We cannot make people do what is right.

There were times when God miraculously intervened to rescue his people from danger even though they didn't ask or expect him to because he had future plans for their lives. There are other times when God's divine intervention is a result of our faith in him. Our faith is in his love to us or his promises or his power or his sovereignty over everything that happens in our lives.

Hebrews 11:6
Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would draw near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

A.W. Pink wrote, ''How does God 'reward' the diligent seeker? By ministering to their every need, both spiritual and temporal.'' God wants us to live by faith in his promises to provide for our everyday needs and help us in the difficulties we face in life.

There are three events that describe people who have faith in God relying on his divine intervention to over come their difficulties.
