SALVATION FROM ETERNITY TO ETERNITY (6 of 8)
Hope for the End Times

2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
6/11/97
These verses of Scripture are like a breath of
fresh air. When you read the previous verses and get
immersed in all of the terrifying truths that are
there, to come now to these statements that talk about
God's great salvation is indeed like a breath from
heaven.
The Word begins in verse 13 with a contrasting
conjunction, a connecting conjunction, which gives a
contrast between what has previously been said and
what is now going to be said. "But we are bound to
thank God always for you, brethren." This is in

previous verses of this chapter he's been talking
about the Great Tribulation time. He's been talking
about some of the things that are going to take place.
He's been talking about the rise and the fall the
Antichrist. He's been talking about end time
deception and delusion and damnation. Now, he turns
the page, now, he turns a corner, now, he comes to the
positive truth about what we have in the Lord Jesus
and the wonder of our salvation. He moves us to the
Antichrist to Christ. He moves us from the work of
Satan to the work of God. He moves us from those who
reject the truth to those who receive the truth and
are saved. A wonderful passage of Scripture about
salvation.
These verses make a transition from prophecy in
chapter two to practical teaching in chapter three.
It is important for us to understand that the
Christian life can be lived to its fullest only when
we understand the great truth of salvation. If you
get some grasp, some understanding, of just how
wonderful the salvation you have in Jesus Christ is,
that becomes the underpinning for the Christian life
being lived to its fullest degree.
Someone has said that these verses constitute a
system of theology in miniature. Here you have in
