Luke 2:36-38
Let's look tonight at Luke chapter two and I want to read about
a lady in the bible who qualifies as a senior citizen. One of the
elderly characters of the bible. We enjoyed our Lamplighters singing
tonight for us. They have a monthly meeting and we are vitally inter-
ested in those in our congregation who are mature in the Lord. Wonder
how many tonight before we read the scripture this is a loaded question.
Wonder how many of you admit to being sixty five or above. Could I see
your hands, oh, look there. We have a lot of folks who are happy to
be sixty five or above. Good. That is a good number of our folks who
are sixty five and above. Let's read about one in Luke chapter two verse
thirty six. "Ahd there was one Anna, Luke two thirty six, And there was
one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser:
she was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from
her viginity; and she was a widow of about four-score and four years,
Eighty four years, which departed not fram the temple, but served God
with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant
gave thinks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that

looked for redemption in Jerusalem."
In these weeks of the summer months I have been talking about the
matter of the family. And I made a dilligent effort to include every-
one from tiny to ninety. I believe that every family member is very
important and has a vital purpose and plan in the will of God for family
life. Someone has said that in family life there are five very important
areas or that family life can be divided into five areas. There is first
of all family founding. WhEn the family is begun the marriage is consumated
and the family is founded. And then there is child bearing. After
this is child rearing. Then number four there is child 1-unching. Then
number five we come to the time which is commonly called the empty ne ...
