Why Do People Need Salvation? (2 of 10)
Series: Revelation of Grace
Eddie Snipes

There was once a man who was righteous because He was a partaker of God's righteousness. He didn't make himself righteous and did nothing to earn God's favor. In fact, he never even thought to question his righteousness until a sly creature showed up. This creature persuaded the man and his wife that they could become their own source of righteousness.
''I know how you can be like God,'' the tempter said. ''You can know good and evil. God knows you can have this power, but He doesn't want you to know how to get it.''
Of course, this man was Adam and his wife was Eve. What Adam didn't understand is that he already knew good. The only thing missing was sin, or evil. He thought he was about to obtain what God was denying him not knowing that God had already given him all things.
And that is the same deception that plagues mankind today. We still believe God is depriving us, not knowing that God's word not only gives commands that serve as guardrails to keep us out of sin's harm, but also gives us direction for the treasure trove God has abundantly supplied to everyone who believes.
The tactics of the tempter haven't changed. He still convinces people that they can become the source of their own righteousness. He also still convinces people that sin is good to look to and promises to make us wise and satisfied. Both are lies.
