Who you are in Jesus (1 of 5)
Series: Adopted by the King
Duane Bemis
John 1:12-13
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.1
The first place to start is receiving Jesus into one's heart. Simply ask for salvation in the name of Jesus. This is why Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us, He came to make payment for our wrong doings. He did not come to give us more information. He came to reveal God to us.
Jesus died to make payment for yours and my sin but He did not stay dead. After three days He came back from the dead to life. Because He is full of life we can be full of life. Because He lives we can live too. We can be saved, healed, and totally set free. We have this right to be His child of life and life abundant.
Think for a moment of a legal courtroom setting and use your imagination for this vision. The Judge sits in his big leather chair in his black robe. The enemy, the accuser2 of our soul, Satan himself acts as an attorney. He stands, ''Your honor, this is no child of God. I see no seal, no signature of authenticity, and how can this person possibly be a child of God.''
Our mediator, Christ Himself, says, ''You are badly misinformed, here is my signature and I even signed it in My perfect and innocent blood. This person was bought at a high price; My death. And below the signature your honor is the seal which reads, 'The holder of this certificate of Born Again status is an authentic child of the Most High God.'
The honorable Judge stands to his feet and hits his gavel and says, ''I throw this case out of court on grounds of authenticity has been proven beyond a shadow of doubt. This child before me is a child of the Most High God. Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: This God is the First and the Last; Besides Him there is no God.' ...
