THE MARRIAGE SUPPER
Revelation 19:1-10
Dr. Vines 10/20/85
With the reading of the opening verses of Revelation 19 there is a
drastic change in mood and in atmosphere. We are moving now from the somber
scenes of tribulation on the earth to the wonderful time when the heavens wil
be filled with Hallelujahs unto our God. We move from the chapters that deal
with judgment to the chapters that open up the wonderful joy which awaits
God's children in heaven. The Bible says, "Eye hath not seen, neither ear
heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man the things which God has
prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by his
Spirit." As we look at these closing chapters of Revelation, we are going to
see God's unfolding of all of the beauties, all of the wonder, all of the
glory that awaits those who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Actually,
this chapter is a kind of bridge between chapter 18 and 20. It is a bridge
between the Great Tribulation on the earth and that time when the Bible says
the Lord Jesus is going to rule and reign on this earth for a period of a
thousand years. It is a bridge chapter. If Revelation 19 were not there you
wouldn't understand at all what is taking place on this earth. There is an
event which is given to us in Revelation 19 that will make all of the
difference in the world between tribulation on the earth and the millennium
reign of our Lord. That event is the return of the Lord Jesus our Savior,
coming in the air for his people and then bringing them back to this earth to
rule and reign with him for a thousand years.
Notice the Bible gives us two basic emphases in these verses. There is,
first of all, the anthems of the saints and second, the announcement of the
supper. Let's begin by looking at -
The Anthem of the Saints.

The first five or six verses of this chapter are the answer to what the
Lord has commanded in chapter 18:20. In verse 20 of that previous chapter God
