Watts
Dr. Jerry Watts has spent over 40 years as a Southern Baptist minister. He was ordained and licensed to the gospel ministry by the South 28th Avenue Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS. He earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from William Carey College (now William Carey University) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After responding to God’s call to preach, his studies led to a Master of Theology from International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida as well as a Doctor of Biblical Studies from Andersonville Baptist Seminary in Camilla, Georgia.
Currently, Bro. Jerry is the Senior Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Foxworth, Mississippi. For five years, he served as the Associational Missions Director for the George Greene Baptist Association in Lucedale, Mississippi. Previously, he served for over 15 years as a vocational worship leader and over 20 years as a Senior Pastor. His pulpit ministry focuses on penetrating the “Darkness with the Light.” His focus is leading the local church to be faithful and fruitful which indicates a healthy church. He is married for over 45 years to Deboria Boone of Pensacola, Florida and they have two children, Christy and Jonathon. Christy and her husband, Chris, reside in Brent, Alabama, and have 5 children. Jonathon and his wife, Charlotte, reside in Guntersville, Alabama, and have 3 children.
