It's Not Over: An Easter Message of Hope

Matthew 28:1-17
An Easter Message of Hope
It's no secret that today we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Our intent today is not to try to prove it to you, because by virtue of you being here today, you have some sense of the importance of this day.
This is a high and holy day for Christ-followers because the apostle Paul said that if Jesus wasn't raised from the dead and brought to life, then we are still in our sin and the biggest fools of all in falling for a story like that.
Our intent this morning is not only to celebrate the resurrection of Christ, but to show some of the responses to the events surrounding his resurrection some 2000 years ago; which, by the way, are the same responses that we see today.
Yogi Berra, the former New York Yankee hall of famer player and coach is famous for his one-liners:
''You better cut the pizza in four pieces. I'm not hungry enough to eat eight.''
''I knew exactly where it was, I just couldn't find it.''
''We're lost, but we're making great time!''
''If you come to a fork in the road, take it.''
''I knew I was going to take the wrong train, so I left early.''
But perhaps the most famous of his one-liners is,
''It ain't over till it's over.''
And nobody knows that more than the 1993 Buffalo Bills, who trailed the Houston Oilers 35-3 early in the second half.
Under the leadership of 2nd-string quarterback Frank Reich, they ended up defeating the Oilers 41-38.
For those of you who remember that game, I'm sorry to have just ruined your day.....
We've all read or heard those stories that have great ''comeback'' endings.
But perhaps there is no greater comeback story than that of Jesus of Nazareth 2000 years ago.
JESUS SAVES; CHOIR AND VIDEO
Everyone thought it was over at that point.
Let's look at the response of a couple of women who went to the tomb a couple days after Jesus' crucifixion.
